He was predeceased by: his parents, James Herink and Violet Herink (Podhajsky) of Tama County; his sister Darlene; his wife Mary Ann; and his granddaughter Lacy.
He is survived by: his children, Diane (Russell), Carolann Johnson (Herb) of Lewisville and Duane Herink of Marshalltown, Iowa.; and his great grandchildren, Elyssa, Emery Summers, Tyde, Teagan Cook, Ayla, William, Henry Hernandez, Theodore, Grace, Cooper, Grae, Garrett, Berkley, Maggie and McPherson Johnson.
