He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Charles "JC" Smith and Dolores Marie Smith (Lewis); and his siblings, Carl, Kermit Smith and Vivian Walker.
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Smith (Wilson); his children, Susan LaFollette of Tabor, IA, Lynn Mauer (Paul) of Morton, IL, Kathryn Talley-Timmer (Doug) of Amsterdam and Brett Smith (Marsha) of Tabor, IA; his grandsons, Jason LaFollette (Jennifer) of Reston, VA and Wesley LaFollette (Carola) of Friedeburg, Germany; his great grandchildren, Jacob, Ethan and Lucy LaFollette; his brother Ernest Smith of Randolph, IA; and his sister-in-law Charlotte Wilson of Randolph, IA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Memorials will go to Golden Hills R C & D, Oakland, IA, or Randolph Volunteer Fire Department, OR the Tabor Volunteer Fire Association.
