He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Thompson (Shorty) and Orpha Thompson (Short); his wife Judy (Lomax); and his daughter Valerie. He is survived by: his daughters, Cynthia Kay Bloom and Kristen Lee Redenius (Ted); his grandsons, Adam and Alex Bloom; and his sons, Matt and Evan Redenius.
