He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard "Sac" Edmonds and Lucille Edmonds (Kensel); and his brother Ronald Edmonds (Avis). He is survived by: his wife Mary Edmonds; his children, Naomi Bentley of Strawberry Point, Lydia Doty (Ben) of Runnells and Fred Edmonds of Cedar Rapids; his grandsons, Vincent Bryant, Brandon Doty, Elijah Doty and Jacob Doty; and his siblings, Lonnie Edmonds (Toni) of Oelwein, Bonnie Scheuerman (Eric) of Pawhuska, Mary Winistorfer of Gulf Port and Connie Sheckles of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
