He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice Phillips and Sarah Phillips (Askelson); his stepfather Irving Wierson; his brother Michael; and his nephew Kent Phillips.

He is survived by: his wife Connie Finley; his sons, Shawn Nordeen of Huntley, IL and Shane Nordeen of Colorado Springs, CO; his grandchildren, Chase, Dylan, Abigail, Trey and Peyton; and his siblings, Steve Philips of Story City and Marilyn Emond (Joseph) of Minnesota.
