He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Ann Barnes; and his siblings, Arthur Barnes, Harriett Grinsted and Dorothy Murray. He is survived by: his children, Lynn (Rick Snedden) and Guy (Wendy); his stepchildren, Teresa Abrahams (Barry), Sam Shaffer, Sandy Larson (Tim) and Ben Shaffer (Michelle); and his sisters, Marian Barger and Margi Hearson. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Memorials may be directed to Northminster Church or the National Wildlife Foundation.
