He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Benson and Helen Benson (Kerr); his wife Greta Benson; his stepmother Kate Benson (Kerr); and his brothers, Elmer Benson (Ardis) and Charles Benson (Isla).
He is survived by: his children, Roxanne Goecke (Don), Tim Benson (Darlene Thomas), Rod Benson (Sherry), Becky Whitaker (Kevin), Tammy Flora (Jay) and Jay; his grandchildren, Scott Goecke (Hillary), Heather Stanley (Tim), Brandon Benson, Alyssa Randall (Joel), Alarie Crouch (Joe), Blake Benson (Brittney), Justin Whitaker (Jeraco), Jared Whitaker (Lindsay), Wade Whitaker (Molly), Tara Trine (Casey), Jenny Vinzant (Brandon), Danielle Smith (Nate), Josh Benson (Natasha), Whitney Brix (Dan), Elizabeth Benson (Kyle Corbett), Emily Edleman (Jacob) and Nicole Trager (Carter); his great grandchildren, Jake, Oliver, Sid, Samuel, Emma, Avery, Greta, Clara, Olivia, Ella, Nora, Jackson, Carson, Camden, Cora, Addi, Beau, Bia, Aidra, Layne, Drake, Cael, Brecken, Boden, Jacie, Kamry, Eden, Ira, Ozzy, Owen, Isaac, Ember, Porter and Charlotte; and his sister Betty Molle (Steve). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.
