He was predeceased by: his siblings, Wesley Nelson, Beverly Prentice, Alvin Nelson, Gloria Nelson, Laura Nelson, Deborah Disbrowe and Connie Patten.
He is survived by: his daughters, Andrea Bullock (Andy) of Indiana and Adrienne Smith (Jim) of Indiana; his grandchildren, Eleanor, James Bullock, Devon, Ava and Derek Smith; and his siblings, Sharon Beach of Marshalltown, Dale Nelson of Rhodes, Dean Nelson of Ankeny and Douglas Nelson of Nevada. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa.
