He is survived by: his wife Fern Arends of Williams; his grandchildren, Gary, Pam Holtan (Ron) of Des Moines, Brad Carlson (Karleen) of Jewell and Matt Carlson (Carol) of Stratford; and his siblings, Richard "Dick", Chris Carlson, Joann Johnston and Jane Arends. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.
