She was predeceased by: her parents, Herbert Mayer and Agnes Mayer (Goergen); her husband Melvin A. Hackenmiller; her son David; and her siblings, Shirley Hackenmiller, Donna Mueske and John Mayer.

She is survived by: her children, Sandy Blanchard (Dean) of Cedar Rapids, Sharon Cowin (John) of Ledyard, Craig Hackenmiller (Barb) of Mantorville, MN, Laurie Johnson (Randi) of St. Ansgar, Karla Hackenmiller (Art Werger) of Athens, OH, Mark Hackenmiller (Teressa) of Cedar Rapids and Matt Hackenmiller (Melissa) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; her grandchildren, Alex Glowacz (Ryan), Olivia Monson (Jordan), Ross Hackenmiller, Drew Hackenmiller (Cody), Holly Hackenmiller, Ezra, Abby and Vienna Hackenmiller; her sisters-in-law, Darlene Mayer, Elizabeth Hackenmiller (Dolly), Mary Hackenmiller and Imelda Neis; and also, Jayden, Jaxson Monson, Cliff Mueske and Darryl Mayer. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will hold a public celebration of her life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Stacyville Community Nursing Home or MercyOne North Iowa Hospice.
