He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton Michels and Margaret Michels (Hemann); his parents-in-law, Herbert and Rose Wagner; his siblings, Viola Schuchart (Wayne), Ralph Michels, Agnes Michels and Elmer Michels; his parents-in-law, Daniel Wagner and Cecelia Wagner; and his niece Margaret Michels.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Michels of Stacyville; his children, Theresa Boerjan (Lee) of St. Ansgar, Vickie Witt (Daniel) of Mabel, Laurie Tiedeman (Terry) of Lake City, Patrick Michels (Angie) of Stacyville, Audrey Walters (Daryl) of Dodge Center, David Michels (Heidi) of Stacyville, Lynette Van Hooser (Tom) of Austin and Christine Hackenmiller (Eric) of Stacyville; his brother Norbert Michels of Stacyville; and his parents-in-law, Marjorie Michels of Stacyville, Karen Michels of Dubuque, Robert Wagner (Grace) of Stacyville, John Wagner (Joyce) of Adams and Jim Wagner (Linda) of Osage. He is also survived by 32 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
