He was predeceased by: his parents, Clair "Cy" Carnahan and Fay Carnahan (Pherrin); his wife Katherine Carnahan (Cook); and his sister Nancy Lou Brown. He is survived by: his children, Alison Frerking of Marion, Pamela Hyberger (Jeff) of Marion and Jeff Carnahan (Katie Heeren) of Springville, Iowa; his grandchildren, Rachael Sherman (Isaiah), Sarah Meyer (Austin), Seth Frerking, Ashley Hyberger, Derek Hyberger, Kyle Hyberger, Bailey Jedlicka and Mackenzie Michael (Brian); his great grandchildren, Sierra, Shaniyah and Eliza; and his brother Stephen Carnahan (Marla) of Springville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joe's memory may be directed to Eastern Iowa Honor Flights or Disabled American Veterans.
