He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Michels and Clara Michels (Gerardy); his wife Orva Mae; his children, Steve and Kristy; his daughter-in-law Karen Michels; his grandsons, Jason and Justin; his siblings, Orville Michels (Florence), Maxine Kueter (Harold), Marvin Michels (Rosemary) and Lester Michels; and his siblings-in-law, Dean McGinnis, Billy Casel, Milfred Zeimet and Berneice Kloft (Jack).

He is survived by: his children, Colleen Cloos (Steve) of Springbrook, Sandy Klocke of Delmar, Roxy Ray (John) of Maquoketa, Lois Cahill (Tim) of Lisbon, Amy Grimm (Ray) of Terre Haute, Jodi Neiber (Matt) of Eldridge, Randy of Andrew, Kevin (Cindy) of Davenport and Jamie (Tammy) of Bellevue; his siblings, Arlene McGinnis, Norma Jean Casel, Larry Michels (Joyce) and Robert Michels (Kelma); and his sister-in-law LeAnna Michels. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.

It is required to utilize masks and to observe social distancing during the visitation and during the funeral mass due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
