She was predeceased by: her parents, Francis Lloyd and Kathryn Van Kuren (Kimfung); and her siblings, John Albios, Patrick Van Kuren, Thelma Albeso, Francis Van Kuren, Kimo Van Kuren (James), Bo Van Kuren (James), Janine Albois (Ninko) and Deborah Van Kuren.
She is survived by: her husband James Thomas Mengelsen Sr.; and her children, Janelle Theresa Nissen (Van Kuren) of Spencer, IA, Jimaline Ann (Van Kuren) of Armstrong, John Edward Staup of Hawaii, Tiffany Marie Jones (Ostrander) of Spencer, IA and James Thomas Mengelsen Jr. of Spencer, IA. She is also survived by her friends and family.
