She was predeceased by: her parents, Hans Hanson and Sara Hanson; and her brother Kenny Hanson. She is survived by: her husband John Lewis Smith; her sons, Dennis Smith (Lynn) and David Smith (Crystal); her grandchildren, James Smith (Monika) and Shelby Smith; her great grandchild Annabella Smith; and her siblings, Elaine Kaufman, Lavonne Brawley, Betty Punke, Jeanne Janes (Richard) and Lloyd Hanson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Great Lakes Lutheran School in Spencer.
