He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Abel and Marian Abel (Plautz); and his brother Darwin Abel (Lorraine Abel). He is survived by: his children, Lynette, Brad Bernardy, David, Lori Abel, Dwayne Abel and Douglas Abel; his grandchildren, Derek, Christina Abel, Nolan, Torie Abel, LeAnne, Tim Hamrick, Kristen, Brandon Brustad, Nicole, Justin Doyle, Kerri, Joshua Allen and Michael Jones; his stepchildren, Sandy, Steve Strenecky and Tammy; his brother Arlan (Karin Abel); and also Mike Knox.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the First English Lutheran Church (1311 E 18th St, Spencer, IA 51301). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at the North Lawn Memorial Park (2208 Hwy Blvd, Spencer, IA 51301).
