He was predeceased by : his father Virgil K Prather; and his brother Jay. He is survived by : his mother Darlene Prather (Amis) of Spencer; his brother Jim (Barb) of Hudson, IA; his niece Stephanie of Hudson, IA.; his uncle Dana Prather (Carole) of Kansas City; and his cousins, Keith Prather, Karen Defrancesca (Tim), Kristen Hutchinson (David) and Jeff Amis (Teresa).

Visitation was held on Thursday, June 6th 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the First Congregational Church (1212 1st Ave W, Spencer, IA 51301). A funeral service was held on Thursday, June 6th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, June 6th 2024 at the Riverside Cemetery (1701 W 4th St, Spencer, IA 51301).
