She was predeceased by: her parents, Arnold Houten and Alma Van Houten; her husband Merlin "Bubby" Bertness; her sister Dolores Zimmer; her husbands, Robert "Bud" and Norman; and her sister-in-law Carolyn Bertness.
She is survived by: her daughters, Brenda Halverson (Frank) of Linn Grove, IA and Diane Brunsting (Doug) of Hawarden, IA; her grandchildren, Kerri Smith (Michael), Holly McHone (Aaron), Josh Brunsting (Kelsi) and Kyle Brunsting (Jenni LeSuer); her great grandchildren, Alanna, Aiden, Alexa, Corban, Gracia and Jace; and her brother-in-law Kenny Bertness (Coke Anderson). She is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
