He was predeceased by: his parents, Enos Fairchild and Bess Fairchild (Shaffer); his wife Audrey Fairchild; his son-in-law Jeff Held; and his siblings, Dan, Bob Fairchild, Mary Lou Plautz, Jean Bridson and Phyllis Bridson.

He is survived by: his children, Kathy Nicholls (John) of Altoona, IA, Mary Fairchild (Held) of Arlington, VA and Jim Fairchild (Mary) of Elgin, IL.. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren and 15 (more on the way) great-grandchildren.
