He was predeceased by: his parents, John Elliott and Ester Elliott (Conlon); his brothers, Ken and Jim Elliott; and his son Robert Elliott.

He is survived by: his wife Jerilyn of Spencer; his children, Kris Huss (Frank) of Spencer and Kevin Elliott (Judy) of Spencer; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Whitney, Sean, John, Samantha, Gabby and Kairee; his brother Tom Elliott (Molly) of Armstrong, IA; and his in-law Betty Elliott Geisler of Littleton. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.
