He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Joseph and Byrna Rae Custer (Meyer); and his sister Jackie Gregan. He is survived by: his wife Robin Ronae Wiseman of South English; his children, Andrew Custer (Erin) of North English and Abby Kerkove (Adam) of North English; his grandchildren, Abe, Cy Custer and Bennett Kerkove; and his brothers, Jim Custer (Harriett) of Anna Cortez and Joe Custer of Cleaveland Heights, Ohio. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
