He was predeceased by: his parents, James Mitchell and Anne Mitchell (Mercer); his wife Madeline Hunter; his granddaughter Jesse Flynn; and his sisters, Betty Groff (Jim) and Anne Toms (Winston).
He is survived by: his children, Bill Mitchell (Cheryle) of Phoenix, Lizzie Riedesel (Dave) of Wheatland, Jim Mitchell (Suzanne) of North Liberty and Robert Mitchell (Michele) of North Liberty. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren.
