She was predeceased by: her parents, Herman Eichhorn and Minnie Eichhorn; her husband John Meeves; her son Gaylen Meeves; her sisters, Arlene McNear and Verna Ahl; and her son-in-law John Hinds.
She is survived by: her friends, Betty and Jeanette; her daughter Marlene Hinds of Elk Point, SD; and her grandchildren, Isaac, Holly (Justin), Levi (Karla), Donnie and Gaylene. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in LaVone's name may be directed to the Smithland United Methodist Church (121 Washington St., Smithland, IA 51056).
