Margaret Ann Lucas Obituary
Margaret Ann Lucas, 73, of Sloan, Iowa passed away on December 28th , 2022, after a short-term battle with Myasthenia Gravis.
A Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 A.M., on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Salix, Iowa, with Father Michael Erpelding, Celebrant. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Margaret's obituary. A visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with a Scriptural Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Margaret was born on July 20, 1949, in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in 1967. Margaret attended Nettleton Business College and in 1967, met her future husband Rich while he was attending school at Briar Cliff College. They married in 1970, and in 1972, moved into their family home in Sloan, Iowa. Margaret and Rich welcomed their first son, Jeff, into the world in 1970. Corey was welcomed a couple of years later in 1972. Margaret enjoyed spending her time going to her sons' athletic games, boating at Browns Lake, and spending time with family.
After the boys graduated from Westwood High School, Margaret spent her time traveling with Rich. Some of her favorite places were Colorado, Texas, Florida, Oklahoma and Okoboji. When she was not traveling, she was at her grandchildren's sporting events, out to eat with friends, and going to the movies. She loved making her famous chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Lucas of Sloan, Iowa; her two sons, Jeff Lucas of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa (wife Jennifer and daughters Anna and Lauren) and Corey Lucas of Sioux Falls, South Dakota (wife Jennifer and sons Carter and Chase); sister, Fran (Jerry) Goodmanson of Grove, Oklahoma; two brothers, Mike (Sandi) Prather of Sioux City, Iowa, and Mark (Jane) Prather of Marco Island, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Margaret was preceded in death by both of her parents Dean and Josie (Sponder) Prather.
