He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Mortvedt and Alma Mortvedt (Anderson); his wife Marilyn Nelson; and his siblings, Marvin Mortvedt and Lila Uthe (Sylvester).
He is survived by: his sons, Steve Mortvedt (Janet), Mike Mortvedt (Nancy), Tim Mortvedt (Wanda) and Todd Mortvedt (Sherman Dubar); and his grandchildren, Angie Kamps (Brad), Matt Mortvedt (Celeste), Mallory Bowman (Dan), Megan Mortvedt, Christopher Mortvedt (Natalie), Tyler Mortvedt (Jodi Arends), Ryan Cable and Brooke Mortvedt (Trevor Tucker). He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater, IA.
