Portia Kay Nowels Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Portia Kay Nowels of Slater, Iowa, born in Burlington, Iowa, who passed away on November 25, 2021 at the age of 74. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Lloyd R. Wasson and Mildred L. Wasson (Hartman); and her daughter Shayla Marie Hoenig. She is survived by : her husband Jerry of Slater, Iowa; her daughter Tiffany Conrad (Matt) of Boone, Iowa; her step-children, Erica Pardue (Jeff) of Denver, Colorado and Nate Nowels (Bonnie) of Ankeny, Iowa; her sisters, Stacia Olsen (Ward) of Green Valley, AZ and Marsha McClellan (Avery) of Everett, WA; and her grandchildren Bryon and Alexa of Boone, Iowa and her special fur-baby Larry.

In the early 1980s, Portia helped establish the Iowa Chapter Lupus Foundation and was the past president for this Iowa Chapter.
