He was predeceased by: his brother George Harold Sydnes. He is survived by: his spouse Sandie Severson; his children, Helen Sydnes Coffman (Dennis) and Daniel Reinert Sydnes; his brother Robert John Sydnes (Sheila); and his brother-in-law Raymond Paul Severson (Beth).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Pkwy, West Des Moines, IA for Ruth Harbor Home.
