He is survived by: his wife Rena Goodwin; his children, Keri Goodwin, Waltena "Tena" Olivares (Efren), Walter "Joe" Goodwin, Jr., Walonda "Londa" Goodwin, Waylon "Goody" Goodwin and Tierra Goodwin; and his siblings, Margaret Thompson of Brooklyn, NY, Ethel White of Toledo, OH, Evelyn Willis of Gary, IN, Coral Lewis (Charles) of Gary, IN, Janet Dooley of Wilmot, AR, James Goodwin of Toledo, OH and Kenneth Goodwin (Gerdee) of Gary, IN.. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
