He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Grote and Rosalia Grote (Talty); his wife Mary Lee Jorgenson; and his siblings, Joe and Gloria Jacobson.
He is survived by: his children, Jennifer (Dennis Hobbs) of Frankfort, IL, Terri Hanner of Lincoln, NE, Deb Henry, Mary Johnson (Christy) of Mount Pleasant, SC, John Grote (Dawn) of Sheridan, WY, David Grote (Kelli Hendricks) and Jack. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 10th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel (6200 Morningside Ave, Sioux City, IA 51106). A vigil service was held on Sunday, November 10th 2024 at 5:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, November 11th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (1212 Morningside Ave, Sioux City, IA 51106). The military honors was held on Monday, November 11th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Memorial Park Cemetery (6605 Morningside Ave, Sioux City, IA 51106).
