He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul William and Elizabeth Shanafelt (Betty); his brother Paul David; and his granddaughter Leah. He is survived by: his children, John S. Shanafelt (Julie) of Montgomery, Charles Shanafelt (Julie) of Dakota Dunes and Leigh MacMillan of Toronto, Canada; his grandchildren, Kara Lindell (Russel), Hannah Leuenberger (Bryan), Travis Shanafelt (Melissa), Jason Shanafelt, Paul Shanafelt, Laura Biagi (Greg), Chase Shanafelt, Anna Bacon (Eliot), Brett MacMillan and Pamela MacMillan; his great grandchildren, Emma, William, Caroline, Jaxon, Reese, Tate, Fender, Isabella, Mae, Ada, Grace, Quinn, Giovanni, Rocco, Arlo and Willa; and his sister Carol Lysen (Ed).
