With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Edward C. Scholten of Sioux Center, Iowa, born in Orange City, Iowa, who passed away on July 15, 2022 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lambert Scholten and Anna Scholten (Ver Hoeven); his former wife Irma L. Klay (Soodsma); his wife Eunice Raak (Menning); his daughter Betty Vande Griend; his son-in-law Glenn Vander Ark; his grandchildren, Barb Brummel and Edward John Scholten; his great grandchild Harper Bell; and his siblings, Morris Scholten (Esther), Bernard Scholten (Anna), Andrew Scholten (Hilda), James Scholten (Greta), Janet Scholten and Joan Scholten.
He is survived by: his children, Natalie (Edwin Brummel) of Sioux Center, LaDonna Vander Ark of Lafayette, Indiana, Lorna (Dennis Dykstra) of Iowa City, Debra (Harlan Moret) of Tallahassee, Florida and Edward Scholten (Lenae) of Pipestone, Minnesota; his son-in-law Roger Vande Griend of Allendale, Michigan; his sister Harriet (Albert Van Zanten) of Rock Valley; and his stepchildren, David Raak (Julie) of Ryan, Marlene Raak of Orange City, Lora (Roger Haug) of Pella, Sandy (Roger Langstraat) of Mesa, Arizona and Rachel (Lynn Gunderson) of Jefferson. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; eighteen great-great-grandchildren.
