She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Merz and Margaret Merz (Sondag); her husband Floyd J. Hammes; her son-in-law Matt Beckman; and her siblings, Ron Merz, Burnita Besser and Rose Mary Shannon.
She is survived by: her children, Sheila Beckman of Larkspur, Cindy Hauschilt (Steve) of Marengo, Dan (Sue) of Denver, Ted (Terri) of Story City, Scott (Deb) of Cheyenne, Lynn (Christine) of Montezuma and Todd (Valerie) of Clendenin; her sisters, Marlene Hammes of Delta and Danita Pergeau of Peoria; and her sister-in-law Sue Merz of Harper. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.
