He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold House and Georgia House (Liechti); and his sister Mary Beth Soth. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Devine; and his children, Susan Harper (George) of Independence, Dave (Robin) of Marion, Tom (Susan) of Lenexa, Joe (Susie) of Ankeny, Jim (Eileen) of Cedar Rapids, John (Maria) of Montreal, Dan (Andrea) of Sigourney and Bill (Sarah). He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
