He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Derby and Minda Ferguson Derby; his wife Betty Northup; and his siblings, Wilma Davis, Theresa Petru, Ellen Lyngas, Myrtle Cihla, Ruth Baxter and Homer Derby.
He is survived by: his children, Dallas Derby of Sigourney, Fred Derby of Sigourney, Darrel Derby (Miva) of Elberon, Stuart Derby (Doris) of Marengo, Kimberly Grimm (Terry) of Williamsburg, Valerie Lee (Bryan) of Webster and Melba Davis of Winterset. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 23 great- grandchildren.
