He was predeceased by: his parents, William Karels and Rose Karels (Cordes); and his aunts, Arlene Karels of Lakota and Arline Karels of Henderson. He is survived by: his spouse Rose Anderson; his son Joshua Karels (April) of Burt; his siblings, Lyle Karels (Karen) of Burt, Steven Karels (Jane) of Ionia, Patti Brandenburg (Paul) of Fredericksburg, David Karels (Pat) of Burt and Deb Brandsma (Ken) of Wendell; his granddaughters, Kinley and Kendyl; and also, Izzy and Joshua.
