He was predeceased by: his parents, James Leo Bender and Helen Anna Bender (Peterson); and his brother Robert Bender. He is survived by: his wife Jill Bender of Sidney, IA; his children, Sheila Bender of Carroll, IA, Jenny Bender of Nebraska City, NE, Jim Bender (Jeanette) of Carroll and Erik Bender (Trisha) of Nebraska City; his grandchildren, Brady, Noah, Levi, Kenzie, Lexi and Brooke Bender; and his brother Denny Bender of Louisiana. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins as well as a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will go to the family.
