With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Marilyn J. Benson of Sidney, Iowa, born in Clarinda, Iowa, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Marilyn left this world on October 21, 2024 at the age of 83, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Dale Brownlee and Anna Brownlee; and her husband Lynn Benson of Sidney. She is survived by: her children, Rod Benson (Kelly) of New York City, Kim High (Ken) of Holly Springs, Brenda Werth (Andrew) of Wilmette, Illinois and Rebecca Ferley (Mark) of Chesapeake, Virginia; her grandchildren, Thomas, Peter Benson, Elise Ware (Spencer), Anna Barney (Johnny), Alexandra, Victoria, Charlie Werth, Alec Ferley (Ally) and Nicole Ferley; her great grandchildren, Noah, Ezra, Asa Ferley and Baby Barney; and her sister Kathy Harris (Craig) of Shenandoah. She is also survived by in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wabash Memorial Chapel (208 W Clarinda Ave, Shenandoah, IA 51601). A celebration of life was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the United Faith Church (1975 US-275, Sidney, IA 51652).
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that any gifts be directed to either the Fremont County Endowment (https://www.iowa4hfoundation.org) for college scholarships or Fremont County Historical Society (PO Box 671, Sidney IA 51652) for new displays.
