He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Thadis Melton and Lula Ellen Melton (Partridge); his wife Elizabeth Lorraine Brandt; his siblings, Orville, Earl, Alex, Martin, Lester, Harold, Mina Brown, Mable Kelly, Vesta Risdon and Louella Birkby; his son-in-law David Moorman; and his grandson Marc Lance Melton.
He is survived by: his children, Darrel Melton (Vickie) of Wichita, KS, Gail Melton (Georganne) of Andover, KS, Charleen Potts (Richard) of Washington, IN, Coleen Moorman and Joan Holmes (Jim) of Sidney. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorials will go to the Weaver Memorial Church of the Nazarene and interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery South of Tabor.
