He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Frederick Schaaf, Sr. and Julia Mae Schaaf (Goodner); his wife Mary A. Leech; his sister JoAnn Goodner Debolt; and his son-in-law Michael Thurston.
He is survived by: his children, Debbie Thurston of Omaha, NE and Larry Schaaf (Lois) of Lewis Center, OH; his grandchildren, Brian Schaaf (Sharon) of Cincinnati, OH, Stephen Schaaf (Nicole) of Pittsburgh, PA, Jodi Esser (Jarrod) of Omaha, NE, Kayla Travis (Mike) of Arlington, NE and Mitchell Thurston (Lindsay) of Omaha; and his great grandchildren, Paighton, Hunter Travis, Austin, Hayden, Carter, Gavin Schaaf, Lily Esser and Evelyn Thurston. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Memorials will go to the Sidney United Faith Church or the Williams-Jobe-Gibson American Legion Post.
