With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Marlys Janelle Pietz of Sibley, Iowa, born in Luverne, Minnesota, who passed away on July 31, 2023 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Dick Korthals and Charlotte Korthals (Smith); her husband Robert Pietz; her parents-in-law, Carl and Sophia Pietz; her brothers, Darwin and Gene Korthals; and her brother-in-law Gary Besta.
She is survived by: her children, Julie Fritz (James) of Rochester, MN, Jean Kolbeck of Spencer, IA and Sandy Schilling (Joe) of Little Rock, IA; her grandchildren, Nathan, Ben (Kristin), Emma (Adam), Brittany (Thorn), Justin and Kelsey (Seth); her great grandchild Dutton James Fritz; and her siblings, Janice Besta of Beresford, SD, Carla Myers (Todd) of Sioux Falls, SD and Richard Korthals of Parker, SD. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
