We are sad to announce that on June 19, 2020, at the age of 90, Gerrit Dejong Jr. of Sibley, Iowa, born in Sheldon, Iowa passed away. He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerrit Sr. DeJong and Tillie DeJong (Feenstra); his siblings, Frank, Dick, Hessel, Jake, Trace, Trina, Effie, Gertrude and Jenny; his son-in-law Steve Berning; and his great grandchild Kenny Taylor.
He is survived by: his wife Erma Jean DeJong (Smidt); his children, Diane Langstraat (Arnie) of Sibley, IA, Glenda DeBoer (LeRoy), Gary DeJong (Carol), LaDonn Hartzell (Bill), Susan Beeck of Denver, CO and Curt DeJong (Megan) of Sioux Falls, SD; and his siblings, Louisa Jacobsma, Tillie Rook and Arnold DeJong. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Due to the Coronavirus, his family was unable to visit him from March 11 through June 8.
