He was predeceased by: his parents, John Slykhuis and Maggie Slykhuis (Vanden Hoek); his daughter Marcia; his sister Polly Van Der Linden; and his stepbrother John Eernisse.
He is survived by: his wife Marlene Van Loh of Sibley, IA; his children, Jeff Slykhuis (Nora) of Custer, SD, Daryl Slykhuis (Kay) of Sioux Falls, SD and Alan Slykhuis (Patty) of Ashton, IA; and his siblings, Delmar "Jack" Slykhuis (Kathryn) of Boyden, Shirley Baartman of Altus, OK, Donna Parkhurst of Des Moines, IA and Joan Hansmann. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Ashton Bible Church.
