He is survived by: his children, Cathy Robertson of Benton, WI, Deblyn Russell (John) of Cedar Falls, IA, Steve McPoland (Debbie) of Dubuque, Carol Beil of Cherry Valley, IL, Dan McPoland of Dubuque and Dave McPoland of Dubuque; his grandchildren, Jim Robertson Jr., Shannon Hamm, Steffane Harjehausen, Melissa Briggs, Bekka Sobolewski and C. J. Beil; his siblings, Don McPoland of Glendale, CA and Nancy Then of Dyersville, IA; and his sister-in-law Betty McPoland of Dubuque.
