He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Sickle and Mary Joan Van Sickle; and his uncle Charles McCullough. He is survived by: his sisters, Deborah Van Sickle of Clarinda and Donna Van Sickle of Shenandoah, Iowa. He is also survived by many extended family members; and a host of friends.

Memorials are being directed to the Merle Van Sickle Memorial Fund.
