He was predeceased by: his son Jamie; his former wife Roberta; and his mother Patricia. He is survived by: his children, Angie Howard (Jamie) of Shellsburg and Jeramey of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Alyssa Howard of Fairfax, Kierra, Mikayla Howard and Izabella Kies of Cedar Rapids; his sister-in-law Sue Kies of Fairfax; his siblings, Sonny Kies (Gloria) of Brandon, Edna Dedrick (Ted) of Vinton, Don Kies (Sue) of Cedar Rapids, Ray Kies (Mary) of Olin and Rocky Kies of Georgia; and his child Jenny. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces.
