Miriam Rachel Garbes Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Miriam Rachel Garbes of Shell Rock, Iowa, who passed away on February 9, 2025, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Loyal and Veva Mae Bridges (Cartee); her sons, Robert and Brett; her granddaughters, Kristen and Schmirler; her great grandchild Dawson Garbes; her son-in-law Bruce Whiteside; and her siblings-in-law, JoAnn Sherburne, Betty Dreesman, Marlys Beekel, Richard Hinders, James Beekel and Lavern Graeser.
She is survived by: her husband Bob; her children, Brenda Whiteside (Greg Johnson) of Shell Rock, Bryan Garbes (Lauri Winters) of Shell Rock, Beverly Lee of Waverly, Bobette Schmirler (Thomas) of Milwaukee and Brent Garbes (Marty) of Waukon; her sister Virginia Graeser of Clarksville; and her siblings-in-law, Richard Garbes (Karen) of Cedar Rapids, John Sherburne of Shell Rock, Eugene Dreesman of Clarksville, Carol Steinkraus (Roger) of Waterloo and DeeAnna Jenison of Waukon. She is also survived by twenty grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Faith Lutheran Church (422 N Prairie St, Shell Rock, IA 50670).
