He was predeceased by: his parents, Percy Olmstead and Florence Olmstead (Fuller); his wife Alice; his great great grandchild Sophie Meier; and his siblings, Laurence Olmstead, Charley Olmstead, Bernice Olmstead and Ardella Smidt.
He is survived by: his children, Rose Marie Gersema (Larry) of Shell Rock, Joyce Snyder of Murrieta, Jim Olmstead (Patti) of Shell Rock and Jeanne Huebner (Craig) of Mason City; his grandchildren, Laura Cannon, Jackie Gersema, Christena Allstrom (Alan), John Snyder (Madeline), Nathanael Snyder (Jeana), Philip Snyder (Christine), Amy Meier (Chad), Beth Hallman (Marc), Joel Olmstead, Chad Kalkbrenner (Grace) and Jaimie Kalkbrenner; and his sister Lovina Allen of Shell Rock.
