He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Hoins and Frieda Hoins (Ahrens); his daughter Diane Liming; his granddaughter Amber Jacobs; his siblings, Victor Hoins (Eloise), Lavern Hoins, Hubert Hoins, Leroy Hoins, Beverly (Rudy Schaff), Draper Spratt, Ralph Burkhardt (Mae) and Henry Schutte (Thelma Hoins); and his nephews, Rodney "Buck" Sherburne (Karen) and Jeffrey "Jeff" Sherburne.
He is survived by: his wife Vera Mae Burkhardt Sherburne of Shell Rock, IA; his sons, Christopher Hoins (Dawn) of Lakeville, MN and Corey Hoins of Waterloo, IA; his son-in-law John Liming of Janesville, IA; his stepchildren, Susan Zimmerman (Mike), Darwin Sherburne (Kim) of Winlock, WA and Teresa Ackerman (Tom) of Allison, IA; his daughter-in-law Kim Sherburne of Clarksville, IA; his siblings, Wendell Hoins (Ethelyn), Everette Hoins, Leola Spratt (Joe Westendorf) and Nancy Creekmore (Rex); and his sisters-in-law, Donna Hoins, Janet Hoins, Luvina Hoins and Ruth Schutte. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
