He is survived by: his wife Lori Brinkman; his children, Heather Simons and Tim Brinkman (Anne) of Sanborn, Iowa; his siblings, Debra Johnson (Mark) of Sheldon, Shelly Vander Tuig (Dave King) of Indianola, Iowa and Tom Brinkman (Brenda) of Centerville, Utah; his stepmother Gladys Brinkman of Sheldon, Iowa; and his grandchildren, Troy Simons of Sanborn, Blake Simons (Hanna Schoning) of Kingsley, Summer Brinkman (Jake Lynott) of Hawarden and Mason Brinkman of Sanborn, Iowa. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
