He was predeceased by: his parents, Dan Hoekstra and Gertrude Hoekstra (Lobbes); his wife Clara Harriet Ter Horst; his brother Creston Hoekstra (Lucille); his brothers-in-law, Warren Snieder and Lawrence Ter Horst; and his great grandchildren, Mark and Sam Hull.
He is survived by: his children, Carol Faye and Dennis Hoekstra (Gloria) of Orange City; his grandchildren, Brian Hoekstra (Deanne), Michael Hoekstra, Cindy Kiel (Michael) and Julie Leusink (Joel); his child Glen Hoekstra (Sheri) of Fox Lake; his grandchildren, Lisa Hull (Nick), Steve Hoekstra (Cortnie) and Laura Bos (Josh); his children, Loren Hoekstra of Estherville, Iowa and Cheryl Fynaardt (Stan) of Pella; his grandchildren, Daniel Fynaardt (Katelynn), Stephanie Oostra (Kyle), Shannon De Bruin (Kyle) and Carol Schnabel (Ralph) of Menno; his sisters, Annette Sneller (Harvard), Shirley Dykstra (Dorward) and Theora Whitman (Roger); and his sisters-in-law, Harriet Snieder and Dinah Ter Horst.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Christian School or Sheldon Christian School.
